Katsuhiro Tsubonou, Yoshiharu Kawaguchi, dirs.; Norio Okada, Katsuhiro Miura, engs. DDD. If this is supposed to be the age of communication, why aren't people communicating? If we can bounce a TV show off a satellite into the Soviet Union, or send an architectural plan along with the designer's signature from New York to London in 30 seconds by facsimile, why the hell haven't we been able to explain to the Great Unwashed what high-end audio is all… Full Story »

Sony STR-DN1010
Most Recent Home Audio Reviews on CNET &bull Aug 26, 2010
The good:7.1 channel AV receiver; four HDMI inputs; graphical user interface; analog video upconversion; audio return channel support; standby pass-through; 3D compatible. The bad: Not our top pick for sound quality; requires $100 dock for iPod/iPhone connectivity; competitors offer more HDMI inputs; skimpy on extra features, such as traditional multiroom functionality and USB connectivity; dynamic range compression turned on by default. The good:7.1 channel AV receiver; excellent sound quality; six HDMI inputs; 3D compatible; graphical user interface; analog video upconversion; can connect an iPod/iPhone directly via USB; Ethernet port; second zone functionality. Anybody got OUTER LIMITS season 2 yet...?
Home Theater Forum &bull Aug 18, 2010
I can't find any reviews anywhere, and it comes out in just a couple of days.... How's it look/sound? Is it on par with the season 1 set? Glenn M. Erickson has a review up now at his DVD Savant website. Sounds comparable to the Season One set (really got to pick these up someday). I, too must pick both sets up some day. Some of the episodes are great. I got mine on Saturday. It is very much identical to the Season One set, which is great by me. Sharp Quattron, Hard of Hearing, Kuro Spoilage
Mark Fleischmann Blog on Home Theater Magazine &bull Aug 11, 2010Oh My!I was listening to Leo Laporte's recent "Tech Guy" podcast on which you discussed Sharp televisions and their new Quattron technology, which uses four colors (red, green, blue, and yellow). I agree with your comments that the goal should be to accurately reproduce the original colors. Is this technology akin to inkjet printers using more than three inks to more accurately reproduce colors? Do you know if Sharp is trying to create "extra" color or using a new technique to reproduce color content that isn't being properly generated? According to Sharp's website, "For… Full Story »
